Project Overview
Event & Media Structures was delighted to support the AIG Women’s Open at Royal Porthcawl, one of the most prestigious tournaments in the golfing calendar. Our team delivered a range of temporary structures designed to enhance the spectator and broadcast experience throughout the event.
Scope and Challenges
The project called for multiple structural solutions across the course and event village. Key elements included:

LED Screen Supports: Sturdy scaffold frames for large on-course leaderboards and big screens, ensuring spectators could follow every moment of the championship.

Branded Screen Walling: Scaffold-backed walling systems to provide a clean, professional canvas for event branding.

Hospitality and Marquee Substructures: Raised platforms and flooring systems to support VIP and public hospitality areas, kitchens, and service facilities.

Public Access Staircases: Safe and practical access routes linking multi-level marquees and hospitality zones.
As with any major sporting event, timelines were tight and coordination with other contractors was essential. Every structure needed to be delivered safely, quickly, and to a standard befitting an international championship.
Our Approach
We drew on our experience in high-profile sporting events to deliver robust Layher scaffold systems that balanced functionality, safety, and presentation. Our crew:

Installed multiple staircases to facilitate safe access for players, staff, and guests.

Worked seamlessly with the wider event team to deliver within schedule, ensuring the site was ready well ahead of the tournament.
Outcome
The completed structures contributed to a smooth and professional tournament experience, enhancing visibility for spectators on the ground and ensuring hospitality areas operated without a hitch. The project highlighted our ability to deliver multiple scaffold solutions across a complex event site — safely, efficiently, and with an eye for detail.
