This summer Event & Media Structures were up in Scotland providing media towers and scoreboards for the Trust Gold Women’s Scottish Open (12-15 August), which was held at Dumbarnie Links, an 18-hole golf course in South Lanarkshire.

The Trust Gold Women’s Scottish Open (TGWSO), previously known as the Ladies Scottish Open (LGA) is an important part of the golfing calendar, and Dumbarnie with its mile-and-a-half expanse of beach, is the perfect setting for televised golf.

Our client IMG International commissioned us to erect a total of 22 media towers starting at the 7th hole and continuing through to the 18th.   The 22 towers were purpose-built so the TV crews and press could get the best angles of the action as it unfolded. Some of the towers were purpose built to display the tournament scoreboards.

All 22 media towers were constructed using the Layher Scaffolding System which nicely doubled up as display stands for the official event signage. We were happy to supply the cladding on which the TGWSO signage was hung.

On the final day of play the golfing trophy was taken by the talented Ryann O’Toole from the US, who had edged three shots clear of the field on the 17th hole to make a seasoned win.
