We’ve been up at Elland Road building a brand new temporary commentary box for Leeds United Football Club.
Harkin Associates (on behalf of Leeds F.C.) commissioned us to build the temporary pre-fab box to incoroprate a spanking new TV studio for their live broadcasts.
Before it was installed at Elland Road, we designed and prefabricated the new commentary box in our Milton Keynes studio. The pre-fab box was built using light acoustic steel with reinforced fibre boards, giving strength, durabilty and great sound-proofing.
The studio plexiglass was sourced from Schüco. Schüco plexiglass is a great choice because it has an attractive narrow face-width and is an excellent thermal insulator, which means it’s also highly energy efficient.
Once the pre-fab panels were finished our crew transported the commentary box onto site at Elland Road. The crew then installed the temporary box in situ on the south side overlooking the pitch and oppostite the Revie, where the hard core Leeds fans normally sit.
After the walls, floor and ceiling were in place our electricians fitted the commando sockets and installed a sleek comms cuboard for all the interior cables. Spotlights with a dimmer were also fitted so that the light could be adjusted during broadcasts. Meanwhile, the box exterior was given a high gloss finish using durable vinyl wrap.
Next, our design team carefully painted and decorated the interior adding a navy blue carpet with sky blue walls. On the commentary box exterior we added the LUFC logo with the white rose of York – the emblem of Leeds F.C.
Luckily for Leeds their new pre-fab commentary box was completed in time for their premier league match against Crystal Palace, which they won 1: 0!
