The Event & Media Structures crew worked into the small hours of Sunday morning to erect a supersized substructure in Trafalgar Square.

The substructure was built as part of the main stage for The London Symphony Orchestra’s annul open air gig sponsored by BMW.

Over a thousand visitors were expected to turn up to Trafalgar Square for the live concert conducted by Sir Simon Rattle. The music included Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker and solo pieces by violinist Leia Zhu.

The Event & Media Structures crew worked through Saturday night and Sunday morning to get the substructure ready for the crane to put the stage flooring in place.

Our crew managed to assemble and build the substructure in situ, in just under eight hours.

In addition to the stage substructure, we provided a step-free level access area with wheelchair space. We also provided space for those with other access requirements.
